Terms of Service
What HackerTube AI provides, where its catalog comes from, and how to use it.
Last updated: 2026-11-02
The service
HackerTube AI is an independent video discovery and navigation site. It provides search, categories, source links, browser-local saved videos, and embedded playback for videos in the public HackerTube collection.
This edition does not host, download, or edit the videos themselves. Playback is provided by YouTube. Public search and browsing do not require an account.
Independence and attribution
This site is separate from Andrej Karpathy, the original HackerTube project, Hacker News, and YouTube. The name and catalog references do not imply their endorsement or operation of this site.
The catalog is adapted from the HackerTube data export, which uses the open-index Hacker News archive. Attribution to these sources is retained under the export's Open Data Commons Attribution License v1.0. The original export documentation is available from HackerTube.
That database license does not transfer ownership of individual videos, thumbnails, comments, names, or other third-party material. Their respective creators and rights holders retain their rights. A listing or playable embed does not grant permission to copy, download, republish, or commercially reuse that material.
Catalog descriptions and availability
Some summaries, topic labels, and recommendation explanations were generated or classified upstream using AI. They can be incomplete or inaccurate. Recommendation counts reflect the source collection and are not a guarantee of quality or a statement that every mention was favorable. Check the video and its original discussion when accuracy matters.
A video may be removed, restricted, unavailable in your region, or blocked from embedded playback. Search results, categories, and the imported collection may change. The site does not guarantee that every listed video remains playable or that the collection is continuously updated.
Using the directory
Use the site and linked material in accordance with applicable rules and the rights of others. Do not attempt unauthorized access, disrupt the service, or use it to distribute harmful content. External websites and video players have their own terms; YouTube's Terms of Service apply to its service.
Saved video IDs are stored only in the browser used to save them. They can be lost when browser storage is cleared and are not promised as a permanent or synchronized collection. See the Privacy Policy for details about storage and external requests.
Optional accounts and paid features
Accounts, analytics, and payment capabilities exist in the underlying platform but are optional. These terms do not announce a paid video plan or imply those features are enabled. If a paid feature is offered later, its actual price, scope, and applicable conditions should be shown with that offer.
