HackerTube AI Usage Guide
How to discover, search, filter, save, and watch videos in the HackerTube AI directory.
Last updated: 2026-11-02
What is HackerTube AI?
HackerTube AI is an independent video directory built around the public HackerTube collection. It brings together videos that have been shared in Hacker News discussions and gives you a simpler way to browse them by topic, search by keyword, and watch them in one place.
The site does not host or re-upload the videos. Videos remain on their original platforms and with their original creators.
Find something to watch
- Start on the home page to see the collection and featured topics.
- Use the search box to look for a title, channel, technology, idea, or keyword.
- Open Topics to browse broad areas and more specific categories.
- Combine a search with topic, format, or level filters when you want a narrower list.
- Use the sort options to move between the strongest community recommendations and newer discoveries.
Open and watch a video
Select a video card to open its detail view. There you can read the summary, see why it was discussed in Hacker News, and start playback through the embedded player when one is available.
You can also open the original video page or the related Hacker News discussion. External pages follow their own terms, privacy policies, and availability rules. A video may be unavailable, region-restricted, removed, or blocked from embedding.
Save videos for later
Use the save control on a video card or detail view to keep a personal reading list. Saved video IDs are stored locally in the browser you are using. They are not an account-based, cross-device, or permanent collection, and they may disappear if you clear browser storage.
Understand the collection
HackerTube AI is a discovery layer over public source data. Topic labels, summaries, recommendation context, and other editorial fields may be incomplete or occasionally inaccurate. When accuracy matters, open the original video and discussion to check the source for yourself.
The collection is attributed to HackerTube and the open-index Hacker News archive, under the Open Data Commons Attribution License v1.0. HackerTube AI is not affiliated with Andrej Karpathy, Hacker News, or YouTube.
